Coil Crochet Pattern Without Rope
Materials
- Yarn and hook to your preferences - I use 2mm yarn and 3mm crochet hook
- Scissors & yarn needle
Abbreviations (US terms)
- R: row/ round
- Ch: chain
- St: stitch
- Sl st: slip stitch
- Sk: skip stitch
- Hdc: half double crochet
- (...): the stitches in the parentheses must all be worked to one single stitch
- (...) x N: repeat the instructions in the parentheses N times
- Turn: flip the work like turning a book page in order to crochet on the other side
- [...]: the number of stitches of a row/ round
- <color>: color of yarn to be used or changed to
Coiled Stitch Crochet Pattern
Start with any number of chains you prefer. For example, make 16 chains
R1. Ch2, hdc to the 3rd ch from hook, hdc to each of the next sts [16]
R2. Ch2 & turn, hdc to every stitch - work to the gap between R1's hdc, hdc to the top ch of the ch2 at the beginning of R1 [17]
R3. Ch1 & turn, sk1, 16 sl st [16]
Next rows. Repeat R2 - 3 until reaching a desired length
It can be seen that the front of your work looks like coil crochet pattern which is usually used for basket while the back is a gorgeous repeated pattern.
